Landed

Feb 11th

16 hour flight, kill me!

Well it turns out it wasn't so bad. Zac and I meandered off the plane and met up with our Arcadia group. We had to move enough clothes into one bag for our three day orientation, because the rest was going into storage. We then headed outside to catch a tour bus headed for St. Kilda. The first thing I noticed outside (aside from the 70 degree weather) was the cars driving on the left side of the road. I had to keep reminding myself to look left instead of right when crossing the street.

The ride to St Kilda was not long. St. Kilda was a lovely beach side area with some shops and restaurants and Luna Amusement Park. After befriended some new people, me and Zac headed to find some food to eat. We picked a nice one on the beach, but it ended up being overpriced. The hostess wondered why we were there, and why we were not dressed to impress. She even tried to scare us away by asking if we had reservations. The plates ranged from 29-80 AUS dollars (huge mistake), so we all went for the 29 dollar entrees (that's what they call appetizers in Australia) and the cheapest half bottle of wine (30 dollars). We walked along the water a bit and then boarded our bus for the sleepy seaside suburb of Sorrento.

The place I am staying at is nothing more than a humongous house that serves as a hostel. Nothing impressive. A long day of orientation seminars tomorrow.

Keep it level!
